Sentara already operates in Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia.

Sentara, a nonprofit healthcare organization, recently launched Sentara Mobile Care in Petersburg as part of its Sentara Community Care program. The official launch of Sentara Mobile Care in Petersburg was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 25 at the Petersburg Public Library. After the ceremony, the mobile care unit will be available to Petersburg residents every Thursday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at The Hope Center located at 827 Commerce Street, and every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Petersburg Public Library.

“We have been involved in and committed to improving the health of the Petersburg community for over 25 years,” said Linda Hines, Medicaid Plan President of Sentara Health Plans. “Our Sentara Mobile Care vehicle in Petersburg is another step in our ongoing journey to create greater health equity and access to care in the communities we serve.”

Sentara plans to expand their services in the future, including further behavioral health services supported by a new $2 million fund and introducing women’s health services to their offerings. Sentara Mobile Care vehicles and Community Care Centers are already serving communities in Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia.

By bringing healthcare services to the doorstep of people who cannot access healthcare due to various reasons, Sentara is making it possible for everyone to have access to basic healthcare services.
