The Green Bay Packers have pledged $100,000 towards providing Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) to eligible facilities in need, along with training from Bellin Health. 80 groups across Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula will receive their AEDs during National CPR and AED Awareness Week in June. The groups selected include schools, school districts, youth and recreational sports organizations in various counties. The attention around this topic serves a valuable purpose in encouraging facilities to recognize the benefits of having an AED on-site. Bellin Health currently offers AED and CPR training opportunities throughout the year. Approximately 350,000 cardiac arrest events happen outside of hospitals each year.
As reported in Fox 11 News, the Green Bay Packers have pledged to donate $100,000 to fund Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) for eligible facilities in need across Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. In addition to the AEDs, Bellin Health will provide training to the selected facilities. This effort comes in response to the cardiac emergency experienced by Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin on the field.
During National CPR and AED Awareness Week in June, 80 groups will receive their AEDs. The selected groups include schools, school districts, youth and recreational sports organizations in various counties across the two states. The Packers and Bellin Health recognize that this effort won’t be able to provide units to every location that needs one, but the attention around this topic serves a valuable purpose in encouraging facilities to recognize the benefits of having an AED on-site.
Approximately 350,000 cardiac arrest events happen outside of hospitals each year, and unfortunately, around half of those people don’t get the help they need until an ambulance arrives. As reported in the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, more than 10,000 people statewide are hospitalized after a heart attack each year, including nearly 400 people annually in Brown County.
The donation of AEDs and training from Bellin Health will undoubtedly help save lives in the selected communities. For organizations seeking help obtaining an AED, a list of res can be found on the Fox 11 News website. Additionally, Bellin Health currently offers AED and CPR training opportunities throughout the year.
The Green Bay Packers have a long-standing tradition of giving back to the community, and this effort is just one example of their commitment to improving the lives of those around them. By providing life-saving equipment and training, the Packers and Bellin Health are setting an excellent example for other organizations to follow. Hopefully, this initiative will inspire more communities and organizations to take action to ensure the safety of their members.
