New Delhi: Every year on February 28, the nation celebrates National Science Day in honor of the Nobel Laureate and the great Indian physicist Sir CV Raman.
The day has been observed since 1987 after the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) called on the then government to declare February 28 National Science Day. It was on this day (February 28) that Dr CV Raman discovered the Raman effect. For this achievement he received the Nobel Prize in 1930.
