Following the successful training of around 50,000 teachers from across Maharashtra in subjects such as science and mathematics, the Indrani Balan Science Activity Center (SAC) of the Indian Institute of Education and Scientific Research ( IISER), Pune is now considering expanding its program to four more declares this year.
The institute has taken various online initiatives to ensure that teachers are able to understand and explain basic science and math concepts to students in an easier way through online education. Officials said they plan to work with the education departments of other states to create such study materials for other states in their own vernacular.
Harinath Chakrapani. professor and dean, international relations and outreach, said teacher training received a very good response.
“There are teachers with us from every district in Maharashtra and it is thanks to the proactive nature of the education department that we are able to reach so many teachers,” said Chakrapani.
