INDIANAPOLIS – Some Hoosiers are skeptical of getting the COVID-19 vaccine because they would still be advised to wear masks and socially distance themselves afterward.
But local doctors say the vaccine is the best way to get back to normal.
Dr Paul Calkins, associate medical director of IU Health, says that in order to have enough people immune to the virus, we can change our behaviors and not wear masks – people need to get vaccinated.
“I want to go to the movies, that’s what I want to do. And you know what, getting that pic is the trail to going to the movies. “
Dr Calkins says people who advise always wearing masks and social distancing after vaccination are conservative and expect more information.
But there is data come and in his opinion, it proves the importance of getting vaccinated.
Dr Calkins says he realizes people want to get the shot and then be able to go out as usual, but we’re just not there yet.
“I think it would be unfair to say that there is no reason to get the vaccine and frankly not to die is a very good reason to get the vaccine in my opinion,” …
