Jedi: Fallen Order reportedly coming June 11 to PlayStation 5

If you’ve been wanting to experience Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order on your brand-new PS5, you’ll be happy to find out that you won’t have to wait much longer! In fact, we’re talking mere hours if the rumor mill is to be believed!

Respawn did release a next-gen patch for the game that resulted in higher frame rates, higher dynamic resolution ranges, and improved post-processing resolution (for the Xbox Series X and PS5), but that’s about it. Now, these are by no means negligible changes, but they’re still a far cry when compared to the sheer power that next-gen consoles bring to the table.

According to The Gamer, this next-gen re-release will launch on the same day it is announced (June 11), and will presumably be one of E3 2021’s many “shadow drops.” These are still unverified rumors, but they do have a fair bit of credence. This PS5 and Xbox Series S/X re-release of the hit Star Wars game has already been leaked by a German ratings board a couple of months ago, so it’s all but official at this point.

Right now, at the time of this writing, the PlayStation 5 is able to render the game at 1200p in 60 FPS (with post-processing set to 1440p), with the Xbox Series X pushing the dynamic resolution even further (between 1512p and 2160p), with post-processing set to 4K (in non-performance mode). As for the Xbox Series S, though, it only received a respectable FPS boost: from 45 FPS to a relatively stable 60. And again: these are very respectable upgrades, but all three of these consoles have the horsepower to run the game at well over 60 FPS at 1440p/4K, so a full-fledged next-gen update is definitely warranted.

In any case, a next-gen re-release makes a lot of sense, and we hope that Respawn will deliver when it comes to harnessing the impressive power these consoles pack underneath their hoods! Jedi Fallen Order might not be as good as some of Sony’s first-party titles, but it’s not far off either! So if you have a next-gen console and haven’t already mastered the Force, make sure to pick up Jedi Fallen Order the very moment it’s released — you won’t regret it!

The Force Is Strong In This One
The best part about Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is that you don’t even have to be a Star Wars fan to fully enjoy it — it’s a phenomenal video game regardless of the way you slice it. It’s fun, engaging, action-packed, with some truly spectacular set pieces and film-worthy clashes. It is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best and most entertaining Star Wars video games in history, and is well worth your time and attention!
