HARRISBURG, Pa .– Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf said on Tuesday that teachers will receive doses of the recently approved Johnson & Johnson vaccine in one shot, as part of a plan his administration will release.
In one news conference on another topic, Wolf said his administration’s plan would be released on Wednesday.
He gave few details, but said he and a bipartisan legislative task force had agreed that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine should be reserved for teachers and then other workers deemed essential, but not included in the first vaccination phase.
“There are some really important frontline workers who I believe and the task force believe should be included, on a bipartisan basis, like teachers and, not too far away, like educators, and police and fire, grocery store workers, bus drivers, ”Wolf said.
State officials expect 94,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to arrive this week as school districts face pressure to bring students back to classrooms for in-person instruction.
