MATHENY, WV (WVNS) – Areas of Wyoming County have woken up with rough waters and flooded roads. Some of the hardest hit areas are Clear Fork and Matheny.
William Daniels is the owner of Dixon. He received a call early Monday morning to tell him that the creek behind his store was starting to flood.
“Probably around 7:15 am, me and a few guys working with us, we started moving vehicles around and we put a stake in the river to kind of watch him,” Daniels said.
This region is no stranger to high water; Daniels said it was the highest level he had seen in the creek in 20 years.
