Local business owners share financial woes as Nevada's 'statewide break' continues

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – After Gov. Steve Sisolak announced another extension of Nevada’s ‘statewide break’, local business owners shared the financial hardships they faced with these low capacity limits in place.

“It really makes it difficult,” restaurant owner John Simmons told 8 News Now of the restrictions.

The governor cited the COVID-19 case, spikes in hospitalization and death rates as the reason behind continued mitigation measures, as well as the expected impact of holiday gatherings.

“We’re losing $ 10 to $ 20,000 a month right now,” added Julie Johnston, owner of Camp Rhino Gym, sharing her experience.

The hiatus, which is now expected to continue until mid-February, means a 25% capacity limit for places like gyms and restaurants.

“We come together and help each other understand all these additional processes that we have to go through just to keep our business afloat” …
