“I have been super into picnics and things like that on Instagram. I would just scroll down my feed and I would see all these luxurious parties, picnics and events,” she said. “Two months ago, is when I put it on paper and decided I was going to bring it to fruition.” She decided her new business venture will be something like that.
decided to introduce her luxury picnic idea and launched PicnicNParris this month.
Parris, who moved with her husband from Washington state in September,
With people still worried about going indoors because of COVID, she said her business provides an alternative.
“I feel like Augusta is a beautiful city. It’s quiet, it’s homey and I feel like there is a lot of things to do but there is not a lot of things to do that are outside that is fun,” she said. “The people here are sweet; they are fun people and I feel they deserve something fun and something beautiful.”
How it works
Those interested can book luxury picnic experiences online. Right now, bookings are limited to weekends, but Parris hopes to expand into weekdays soon.
Prices range from $75 to $325, depending on the experience. Parris said they have custom-built tables, glasses and table setups that are tailored to each guest’s requests.
People can choose from a luxurious picnic for two or four people, traditional picnics for two to four guests or even a self-care experience. There is also a grandeur experience, which offers a custom theme.
Customers will also be able to add guests, activities and a camera tripod and remote.
Right now, food is not included, but she has partnered with some local chefs to have food delivered. Parris hopes to provide food options in the near future.
“You just come, you bring your food or order your food. You enjoy yourself, it’s a good vibe, it’s good energy, it’s a beautiful setup and then you leave,” Parris said.
The picnics are limited to two hours and can be booked for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Parris said she has a list of preferred locations, including Pendleton King Park and Augusta Riverwalk, but people can choose any location outdoors or indoors in the Augusta area.
“This is a year-round venture because our picnics can be set up anywhere,” she said. “If it’s too cold outside, you can set up indoors.”
“I feel this is a very welcoming area. I have felt nothing but good energy since I’ve been here. I hope the people of Augusta enjoy what I’m bringing to the city,” she said. “I look forward to it, I believe it’s going to be big.”
Parris said the people of Augusta have been receptive to her business, with a recent Facebook post accumulating hundreds of likes. She is excited about getting started and offering her services.
