MACEDONIA, Ohio – The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed the restaurant industry and allowed people to avoid buffets and organized events.
Chef Claude Booker, owner of Simply Southern Sides and Booker’s Soul Food Starters in Macedonia, has opted for prepackaged products to keep his business afloat and deliver safe flavors to people across the country.
“My dad, when I was a little boy, let me get on a stepladder because I was fascinated with cooking,” said Booker, who was born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina. “In fact, I turned down a football scholarship to go to cooking school. And so, it’s just my passion.
In 2007, Booker and his wife Crystal launched Simply Southern Sides in Macedonia and began offering southern comfort at the buffet.
