The new game draws from the massive collection of mini-games all throughout the series’ history. Over a hundred mini-games return, remastered for the Nintendo Switch console. There are also five classic boards making a comeback, with a few refurbished parts here and there. While the nostalgia factor is very much appreciated, Nintendo also isn’t simply bringing the past back. Of course, there are a variety of new features and quality-of-life improvements to be found here. They used all the feedback they received from Super Mario Party and used all of that to improve the experience players will find in Mario Party Superstars. Nintendo released the Mario Party Superstars announcement trailer during the E3 2021 Nintendo Direct. The trailer, thankfully, also gave us a release date: October 29, 2021.
All of the boards and game modes will all be playable online, allowing you to play with friends or strangers anytime you want. Meanwhile, all of the mini-games have also been remastered to match the Nintendo Switch’s controls. All of Mario Party Superstars‘ mini-games also have been reworked for button controls as well, allowing Nintendo Switch Lite players to join in on the fun as well, unlike in Super Mario Party which was Nintendo Switch-only.
