MILFORD – Lou Vitola, CFO of Milford, has been in office since August. In recent months, one of the main objectives has been to finance the construction of a new police station.
The city will vote on January 26 on whether to let the city government borrow up to $ 20 million for the project. In the meantime, Mr Vitola and other officials are working hard to convince the rest of the city that the project must come to fruition.
“We can no longer just say that we don’t want to incur additional property taxes and ignore the inevitable need that lies ahead,” said Vitola.
“Inquiry after inquiry by the city, safety has always been identified as the number one concern of residents of Milford,” he said.
Without a new station, Mr Vitola said the ministry’s ability to keep citizens safe could be hampered.
