“This is good news to those who appealed for BPR aid. They can start checking their eligibility from Sept 18 at https://bpr.hasil.gov.my. Payment will start at the end of September, God willing,” he wrote in a post on his Twitter account on Friday night (Sept 17). He said some 200,000 citizens will benefit from an allocation of RM240mil.
The criteria were revised by lowering the age of eligible singles and widening the scope for welfare to more Malaysians who are facing the brunt of the Covid-19 economic fallout.
Based on estimates made by the Finance Ministry, a total of RM6.5bil had been set aside in Budget 2021 for BPR.
In another post, Tengku Zafrul also said that new Prihatin Special Grant (GKP) 4.0 Phase 1 payments will start on Sept 21 to about a million small-medium enterprises through an allocation of RM500mil.
“This is good news for our SMEs. Checks can be done starting from Sept 20 at https://gkp.hasil.gov.my,” he said.
On July 15, Tengku Zafrul said that payments under the RM1bil GKP 4.0 allocation would be made in September (RM500) and November (RM500) this year for both current GKP recipients and approved new applicants.
Current GKP recipients do not have to reapply.
