The public art committee asked for additional funding at the Bainbridge Island City Council meeting last week.
The committee requested new funding of $ 3,600 for a digital media campaign, as well as approval of the 2021 public art budget.
Steven Rabago, of the arts committee, said the digital media campaign will run for six months, after which the city could decide whether to continue, externally or internally.
Councilor Leslie Schneider said she liked the idea. “It really lets the public know that these new pieces can be bought by the community – once people have fallen in love with them.”
Board member Brenda Fantroy-Johnson agrees, saying she’s seen some of the sample videos and feels it’s “the best plan to try to market this.”
