NEED FOR SPEED UNBOUND’s Reward System will Acknowledge Player’s risk Taking Capabilities

Now that Need for Speed Unbound has been officially unveiled and is on its way to release on December 2, EA continues to fuel the hype with a brand new trailer that showcases what the publisher calls “risk and reward” gameplay.

“In Need for Speed Unbound” explains, “players have to take risks to get to the top. Choose how and when to put it all on the line by making huge drifts on the street, outrunning the police, or betting on rival racers with your earnings.”

In practice, the trailer’s fast-paced visuals and exaggerated style are not immediately clear, but EA sheds more light in an accompanying press release.

“Time is money,” the publisher continued, “so players have to find the fastest way to earn enough money to enter the weekly qualifiers and make it to Lakeshore’s ultimate race, The Grand.” And with that additional context, dissecting what’s happening in the trailer becomes a little easier.

EA recently confirmed that the game’s signature – but divisive – aesthetic highlights could be turned off (or just never turned on) for those who prefer a more realistic ride.

Need for Speed Unbound – for the first time in the series, will support 60fps at 4K on consoles – launches December 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
