Nokia Mobile released the Nokia 2660 today, but it comes in two new colors: Pop Pink and Lush Green. Some retailers have already uploaded pictures and prices of the phones, which shows that they should already be on sale in many places. The expected price in the EU is 79.90€, but the phone can also be bought from Nokia.com/phones in the UK for £64.99.
The updated 2660 doesn’t add anything new except for different colors. It is still a 4G device with a main screen of 2.8 inches and a secondary screen of 1.77 inches. The phone has a Unisoc T107 processor, an MP3 player, Bluetooth 4.2, a wireless FM radio, and a microSD card slot that can hold up to 32 GB of data. It has a 1450 mAh battery on the inside that can be charged through a micro-USB port. There is an LED flash and a 0.3 MP camera. It also has an emergency button that lets you call up to 5 people at the same time.
It seems that Gen Z is making people interested in this kind of phone because they want to limit screen time to improve their mental health. Shipment data show that the number of feature phones is going up. IDC data showed that the Nokia 105 was the most-bought feature phone in the world in 2022. This is a good example. Also, Moor Research thinks that there will be a 5% increase in the next five years because people are becoming more worried about public health.
Lars Silberbauer, the Chief Marketing Officer at HMD Global, which makes Nokia phones, said, “There’s been a rise in interest in flip phones, and we think that’s because people want a break from the constant stream of digital notifications, social media posts, and other things.” People want things to be easier, to spend more time with each other, to have more time to think, and to be able to talk without being interrupted.
