ELMIRA, NY (WETM) – A new dog grooming business has opened in downtown Elmira, adding an option closer to many of the town’s residents. Uncle Carl’s dog grooming opened on Wednesday and the owner has seen steady business so far.
Carl Barnes-Dieterle, who used to groom dogs at a big box store in Big Flats, wanted to open in downtown Elmira because there weren’t many options in town. Small and large breeds are welcome at Uncle Carl’s, short and long haired dogs are also welcome.
Carl told 18 News that he uses an Aloe Vera shampoo, does not have harsh scents, and is good for the dog’s skin. For quick dates, he also cuts the nails.
Uncle Carl’s dog grooming is open Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Due to COVID-19, appointments must be made at advance.
