New parties came to Gujarat, made big claims ahead of election but were defeated: Shah mocks AAP

In an online address to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Surat, he also said that the party’s resounding victory in the state proves that Gujarat has been and will always be the stronghold of the Saffron Group.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday targeted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), saying that new parties have arrived in Gujarat, making high demands and pledging guarantees ahead of the Gujarat elections, but deleted after the results.

In an online address to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Surat, he also said that the party’s resounding victory in the state proves that Gujarat has been and will always be the stronghold of the Saffron Group.

“New parties came to Gujarat, making high demands and giving guarantees, but after the election results, they were wiped out,” said Shah.

“This historic victory (BJP) sent a message to the country that Gujarat was, is and will always be the stronghold of the BJP,” Shah said.

In the recently concluded Gujarat National Assembly elections, BJP made history by winning 156 out of 182 seats. The AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, which has carried out a massive campaign and made many promises in the polls, won only 5 seats, while the Congress party came in second with 17 seats.

“This result will boost the BJP’s aggressiveness in the upcoming elections in other states and the Lok Sabha polls in 2024,” he added.

The minister said the widespread popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the country and in Gujarat was the reason for the excellent results.

He congratulated BJP State Unit Leader CR Paatil and party staff on a resounding victory.
