One of the longest-running Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Games (MMORPG), RuneScape, is finally out of early access for a mobile version, and is available on iOS and Android right now.
RS3 is free-to-play and offers cross-platform compatibility and progression so you can move between platforms and never have to stop fishing while you commute, for example.
RuneScape, or in this case RS3, is developed and published by Jagex and has been around in some form or another for the better part of 20 years now. In that time it has gone through a few different versions. The version we’re talking about is the newly ported mobile version of RS3.
While being free is all well and good, it also offers players a membership subscription which gives one access to more quests, skills and other extras. You’ll need to cough up $11 (R155) per month though so we suggest the free 7-day trial to see if it’s for you.
Now, we’re not about to bring up the debate of which one you should play and why it’s better, because nobody has that kind of time. We would advise you to try them both and see which one suits you better. They are both available now on the App Store or Google Play Store.
Which RuneScape is RuneScape
This is the latest version of the game which first came out in July 2013. Old School RuneScape, or RS2, was released in February 2013 and was based on a 2007 build of the game (hence why it has ‘old’ in its name). That saw its mobile version released back in 2018.
