Pegatron plans to establish a manufacturing base in Chennai, India to prepare to produce iPhone models in the second half of 2021 at the earliest.
Pegatron continues to prepare to relocate some of its iPhone production in India, spending over $ 14 million to acquire land and obtain the rights to build a factory in Chennai.
According to a source who spoke to the DigiTimes, new site would be mainly used for iPhone production and could employ around 14,000 workers.
It had previously been reported that Pegatron had registered a subsidiary in India, making it clear that the company hoped to move some of its iPhone manufacture outside of China.
