While completing a work project, Navy veteran turned carpenter Frank Manteau decided to use popular Navy gear: colored pencils. Switching from one color to another, he inadvertently stuck a waxy stick in his mouth to keep it safe and continued to scribble. Before he knew it, he was doing what Marines do best: naming on colored pencils.
When he finally realized the stereotype he was realizing, his next thought was, “Is there something to this?”
And that’s how “Ready-to-Eat Crayons” was born.
