The proposal passed the Lake Elmo Planning Commission Tuesday, and the City Council is scheduled to discuss it at a June 1 meeting. The as-yet-unnamed business park would be northeast of Lake Elmo Boulevard and Hudson Boulevard.
The project is a joint venture of development companies Launch Properties and Crossroads Properties. Source www.twincities.com
After the Cottage View Drive-In in Cottage Grove closed in 2012, Vali-Hi became the only remaining drive-in movie theater in the metro area.
If the project is approved, the Vali-Hi Drive-In would be surrounded on all sides by development, including a school bus terminal to the east, a housing project to the north, and Interstate 94 to the south. One building on the west side of the project would be a U-shaped 30-foot-tall structure built by Crossroads, for office and warehouse space. To the east — nearest the drive-in — a 38-foot-tall warehouse and distribution center is being planned by Launch Properties.
