Chris Hopkins, political research director at Savanta, said that “three polls on the bounce with very similar Labour leads since the local elections shows a re-establishing of a commanding Labour lead after it appeared to drift towards the low teens.”
Hopkins also commented on Rishi Sunak’s fortunes, saying that it was difficult to see where they could pick up after a week of headlines dominated by allegations of improper behavior from ministers and former prime ministers. He added that Sunak’s attempts to distance himself from the governments before him continue to be scuppered by the ghosts of prime ministers past, as well as some of his own appointments.
