DENVER (AP) – A former Colorado state official sued U.S. Republican Lauren Boebert on Sunday after she was excluded from the first term of federal lawmaker. Twitter Account.
Lawyers for Democrat Bri Buentello of Pueblo have filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Denver, claiming she was stranded after calling on the Colorado Republican to be recalled following the Jan.6 attack against the United States Capitol by supporters of President Donald Trump.
The lawsuit seeks a court order for Boebert to unlock Buentello on Twitter and a statement that the Republican’s actions violated Buentello’s constitutional rights to free speech.
Boebert’s office did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment. Its communications director, Ben Goldey, resigned last week, less than two weeks after Boebert was sworn in. Goldey said his action was prompted by the insurgency on Capitol Hill.
