PROVIDENCE – The $ 76,000-per-month no-tender contract that drew fierce criticism from several lawmakers this week has been canceled.
The State Department of Administration, in an email, said, “Now that new Governor McKee will be responsible for the next FY2022 budget proposal, we will cancel this contract with Alvarez & Marsal tomorrow. The company will provide a report on the work it has carried out and on the preliminary conclusions obtained. “
It was also signed by the Council on Post-Secondary Studies and the Commissioner of Post-Secondary Studies.
The administration department said it would allow the incoming administration to work with the Council on Post-Secondary Education and Rhode Island College to determine how to address the college’s $ 10 million budget deficit.
The contract was awarded to Alvarez & Marsal, a consulting firm preparing recommendations for RIC’s 2022 fiscal budget.
