Tottenham Hotspur is searching for a new manager after a disastrous season, and Daniel Levy knows he has to get the appointment right this time. Ryan Mason and Cristian Stellini were not successful in the interim position. Ange Postecoglou, who oversaw Celtic’s treble, is the latest name in the frame. However, he was not forthcoming when asked about his candidacy after the game, and there’s no guarantee that negotiations will end successfully as far as Tottenham are concerned, given Levy’s reputation that might put off potential managers. Tottenham has had Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho, both serial winners, in the past, but the club hasn’t been successful.
After a disastrous 2022/23 Premier League season, Tottenham Hotspur is now on the lookout for a new manager. The club’s chairman, Daniel Levy, is aware that he needs to make the right appointment this time around. Ryan Mason did his best as an interim manager, but Antonio Conte’s departure and Cristian Stellini’s poor performance at White Hart Lane left Tottenham in need of a long-term solution.
Several names have been mentioned as potential candidates for the job, with Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou being the latest. The Australian has done his candidacy no harm at all after leading Celtic to a treble, including a cup final win over Inverness on Saturday.
However, Postecoglou was not forthcoming when asked about his potential move to Tottenham after the game. “I understand all that (the questions), but I am going to be a little bit selfish here, not just for myself but my family and people around me, we have all worked really hard to enjoy this moment,” he said, As seen in the coverage by CaughtOffside.
He added, “If I again start talking about things right now that aren’t really important to me and those people around me, so I am just enjoying this and will do for as long as I can before people drag me away to talk about other things.”
Even if Levy manages to get Postecoglou to the negotiating table, there is no guarantee that discussions will end successfully. Tottenham’s chairman has a reputation that might put off managers looking from the outside in and wondering why the club hasn’t been successful despite having the likes of Conte and Jose Mourinho, both serial winners, as managers.
It is clear that Tottenham needs a manager who can bring success to the club. With the right appointment, the team can turn their fortunes around and compete at the highest level once again. However, Levy must be careful to avoid making any mistakes in the appointment process this time around.
