The Ondo State government has dismissed rumors of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s death, stating that he is alive and attending to state matters despite being indisposed. Citing a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, is alive and attending to state matters. This comes after rumors of his death circulated on social media, creating tension in the state and across the country.
The Commissioner urged the public to ignore the false information and assured them that the governor has been delegating state functions, despite being indisposed. She added that the rumour was a wicked fabrication, and certain people sought to draw political mileage from it.
However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ondo State chapter, called for Akeredolu’s resignation and advised him to hand over to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa. The party’s Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, criticised the governor’s handlers and managers, saying they were not on top of their assignments and took everyone in the state for granted.
While praying for the governor’s quick recovery, the PDP demanded that his aides disclose his whereabouts to calm nerves in the state. Peretei also expressed concern over Akeredolu’s absence at national events and accused his handlers of saturating social media with old videos of him dancing and singing praises.
