Samsung and Google announced on Thursday that Samsung’s SmartThings service will be integrated with Android Auto starting next week. The integration will allow Android Auto users to control compatible SmartThings smart devices directly from their car screen.
The announcement follows the major launch of today’s Galaxy S21, which also included the Galaxy Buds Pro and Galaxy SmartTag, a tile-shaped tracker that will allow users to easily see the location of the accessory.
During its presentation on Thursday, Samsung briefly showed what the integration of SmartThings into Android Auto will look like. Once the SmartThings app is open, users will see shortcuts to quickly control smart home devices connected to the Samsung platform. In one image, Samsung showed off a few routines as well as access to things like a smart thermostat, robot vacuum, and smart washer.
