Shawnee County Health Department awaits advice to finalize immunization enrollment plan

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – While several counties in northeastern Kansas have rolled out online registration forms so people are notified when they can get a coronavirus vaccine, Shawnee County says it is waiting for the advice from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment before it finalizes the plans.

Dr Lee Norman, the state’s leading health expert, said while the state is still in phase one for the vaccination plan, there are many areas bracing with enrollment.

“Many communities already have waiting lists so that as soon as enough vaccine arrives in town, they can get it,” Norman said.

Mary Holladay lives in Shawnee County and has said she feels left in the dark with a plan.

“We’ve been trying hard since March and I feel like we’ve done everything we can to stay in shape. Now we’re almost at the goal line and we want to get that shot as fast as possible, ”Holladay said.
