Silicon Valley Railways Funding Removed From Coronavirus Relief Bill

A controversial $ 100 million bill for an underground railroad project in California’s Silicon Valley has been pulled from the latest coronavirus relief bill, according to the Office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The money would have been used to expand the Bay Area rapid transit system under San Jose, as House Democrats argued that transportation funding in the Relief Bill would support jobs in the construction and public transportation.

But critics have derided BART’s expansion as Pelosi’s “subway to nowhere”.
