Steven Campbell, a Riverside resident whose real estate holdings in Brookfield have made him an influential figure who has garnered the respect and admiration of other business owners and tenants for his generosity while irritating and infuriating local officials for fighting them relentlessly over property issues, large and small, has passed away. February 27 at his Riverside home of natural causes. He was 71 years old.
Raised at LaGrange and graduated from Lyons Township High School, Campbell in the 1980s had established a store called Coachworks on Ogden Avenue, dining on high-end automobiles.
He increasingly turned to buying commercial property along the main street of Brookfield, and by the end of his life owned plots on both sides of the entire expanse of Ogden village. ..
