Police registered a case here on Thursday related to a media cell of the Samajwadi Party (SP). The cell allegedly made disparaging remarks about RSS through his official Twitter account.
The incident came after a complaint by Pramod Kumar Pandey, a volunteer attorney at Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Lucknow, was registered with the Vibhuti Khand police station, they said.
The complainant claimed that a tweet issued by the official address of SP Media Cell made “extremely offensive” comments regarding the treatment of young RSS volunteers at “Shaha” and caused him psychological trauma.
Pandey said “billions of Swayamsevaks” are associated with his RSS, and conspiracies are hatching through the tweets to disrupt social and community harmony.
The same handle has made offensive comments in the past and should be blocked, Pandey said in the complaint. According to the police, one case against an unidentified person has been registered under section 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code (speech that creates or encourages hostility) and section 67 of the Information Technology Reform Act 2008.
