MDA gets $131 million from mystery NGSO constellation customer
An undisclosed customer has awarded MDA 180 million Canadian dollars ($131 million) to commence the engineering of a non-geostationary constellation of 36 satellites. The deal could potentially be worth significantly more if MDA progresses to become the prime contractor for the constellation next year. This marks the second customer order for MDA’s new software-defined satellite design, indicating a growing demand for the company’s products.
Expanding Production Facilities
MDA is actively expanding its production facilities in Montreal to meet the increasing demand from constellation customers. The company aims to have the capacity to produce two satellites a day, highlighting the scale of their operations and their commitment to meeting customer orders.
Telesat Partnership
Telesat has chosen MDA’s latest spacecraft product for its proposed low Earth orbit (LEO) Lightspeed broadband constellation, solidifying MDA’s position as a key player in the satellite industry. This partnership further underscores the growing demand for MDA’s satellite platforms and the company’s ability to secure significant contracts.
