RUSTON – Everyone at the Thomas Assembly Center on Saturday afternoon celebrated the college careers of six senior Bulldogs in a pre-game ceremony.
Then everyone celebrated after the game like Louisiana Tech closed the regular season with a 79-58 victory over Rice over Karl Malone Court.
THE Tech (19-6, 12-4 C-USA), who has won 11 of his last 13 games, has made just nine-three pointers, against 17 on the program the day before. The defensive performance was the same, however, limiting an explosive Rice team (12-12, 6-10 C-USA) to 34 percent shooting while again racking up 10 steals.
“The concern with always fast turnover is the kind of energy you need to generate,” said head coach Eric Konkol. “We played well last night with a lot of enthusiasm and energy against a good team from Rice who are so explosively offensive.
“From the senior ceremony early to enter the groove of the game, I thought we were lethargic at first. Once the guys have settled into the game and really locked up defensively, I thought it ignited our offense and we just started playing better basketball throughout.
