Messenger staff editor Elijah Decious has won two prestigious awards for young journalists at the Iowa Newspaper Association’s annual competition.
Decious won the Jay P. Wagner Award for Young Journalists. In 2010, the award was created to honor the life of the late Jay P. Wagner, a dedicated community reporter.
Decious also won one of the Genevieve Mauck Stoufer Awards for Outstanding Young Journalists in Iowa.
This award is a tribute to the late Geneviève Mauck Stoufer of Council Bluffs. Stoufer had a deep belief in helping young journalists.
