Kenya’s Olympic Body Supports National Polling Body to Conduct Elections

Retired distance running icon, Paul Tergat, is widely expected to go for his second term as the president of NOC-K having taken over in September 2017. The postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics to this year due to the global pandemic also led to the delay of the NOC-K elections to this year.

Kenya’s Olympic body endorses national polls body to conduct its elections The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) that manages local and national elections in the country was given the green light to organize and supervise the Olympic body’s polls.

“The key outcome of the meeting was the endorsement of the national elections body, the IEBC, to preside over the NOC-K elections. This was after the body was overwhelmingly nominated by the majority of the members when they were invited to propose a body of their choice for the process,” NOC-K said in a statement.
