Barbara Ferrer, director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, announced Wednesday that the county will follow the state’s updated youth sports guidelines, paving the way for high school outdoor sports teams for start full workouts and games on Fridays if their schools and districts allow it while following safety protocols.
State guidelines allow outdoor sports to be enjoyed in counties that have reached an adjusted daily rate of 14 new cases of COVID-19 or less per 100,000 residents. The Los Angeles County rate was 12.3 on Tuesday.
Full pad football training can start on Friday for teams that started training on Tuesday. Football games are authorized to start in the teams of the southern section on Saturday.
