Tyler Matthews, strength and athletic development coach at Apollo High School since 2014, takes on additional responsibilities at the state level.
Matthews, 29, was recently appointed to a four-year term as Kentucky State Director of the National High School Strength and Conditioning Association.
“I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity to become the Kentucky State Manager,” said Matthews, who was named the 2019 Kentucky Strength Coach of the Year by the NHSSCA. “I know that I stand on the shoulders of giants who paved the way for the profession to be seen as it is today.
“My goal is to continue to develop and grow in the field by starting to coach strength in Kentucky. more common and helping to find solutions to the challenges schools face in implementing this critical position for the long-term success of high school sport.
