(WXYZ) – The Michigan High School Athletic Association on Wednesday announced plans to restart sports classified as “contact” or “non-contact,” following the latest epidemic order from the Department of Health and Human Services from Michigan.
Girls’ gymnastics, girls’ and boys’ bowling, and girls’ and boys’ swimming and diving – sports known to be “non-contact” – are allowed to resume practice on January 16, with the swimming and diving competition scheduled to begin on January 22. January and gymnastics and bowling on January 25.
Skiing for girls and boys, classified as a non-contact outdoor sport, was cleared to start in December.
Sports designated as “contact” – basketball, competitive cheering, ice hockey and wrestling – can begin non-contact practices on January 16, with competitions scheduled to begin February 1.
