EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – The Michigan High School Athletic Association Representative Council today approved a schedule adjustment plan for the five “contact” winter sports that can begin contactless activities on the 16th. January, but not full training and competition until February .1 according to the recent update of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) outbreak plan.
The updated schedule for girls and boys basketball, the joy of competitions, ice hockey and wrestling pushes the finals of these sports into late March or early April. The Board approved the following dates:
Girls basketball
First contactless practice: January 16
First practical contact: February 1
First competition: February 4
Districts: March 22, 24, 26
Regional: March 29 and 31
Quarter-finals: April 5
Semi-finals: April 7
Finals: April 9
Boys basketball
First contactless practice: January 16
First practical contact: February 1
First competition: February 4
Districts: March 23, 25, 27
Regional: March 30, April 1
Quarter-finals: April 6
Semi-finals: April 8
