The NFL is disputing a new report on ESPN’s impending renewal of its Monday Night Football package, and although much of the substance of Friday’s story in Sports Business Journal lines up with the unofficial narrative that s ‘has developed over the past few months, the leaking dollar figures do not seem to add up.
SBJ reported that a formal agreement between the NFL and ESPN Disney’s parent company was “very close,” while noting that no contract had been signed. The new deal is also expected to bring ABC back into the Super Bowl broadcast rotation for the first time in 15 years.
