The one thing missing from the Feb. 22 edition of the Madison-Perry basketball rivalry, which annually features a candidate for game of the year, was a gym full of loud fans to witness it.
The crowd that was in attendance, limited by coronavirus restrictions, was again treated with a classic, with the Host Pirates prevailing in overtime, 89-81.
Although the contest featured dueling runs back and forth, the Blue Streaks did not take their first lead until junior Dimitri Dragas sank a 3 with 28 seconds left in regulation for a. 74-71.
Brayden Richards, a rookie to Perry, then missed a pair of free throws, but managed to grab his own rebound from the second failure, and quickly passed to Jaylen Anderson.
