Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has inspired generations to speak out for social justice, and the events of 2020 have inspired many – including athletes – to raise their voices for the causes King has dedicated his life to.
One of those athletes was the only full-time black NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, who used his platform to lead the charge for the Confederate Flag ban in the sport last year, following the murder of George Floyd.
Wallace recently joined Shannon Sharpe of FOX Sports to discuss how he continues to break down barriers, the need for Wallace to be the voice of NASCAR change, and the importance of recognizing the work he and d other athletes have accomplished – while acknowledging that the fight is far from above.
“’You’re an artist, that’s it,” Wallace said, speaking rhetorically.
