Somerset Hills School District approves coaching allowances, awaits winter sports status

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ – Boys ‘basketball, girls’ basketball and fencing coaches at Bernards High School have been approved to receive allowances from the Somerset Hills School District for the winter sports season , but the Board of Education still did not know how and when the winter season was actually going to proceed.

Men’s basketball head coach Tim Palek and women’s basketball head coach Bisconti each received $ 9,500, and Jared Hammond, the head fencing coach, was approved to be paid $ 7,200 by the school board.

The winter season for these sports normally begins just before Christmas, but the NJSIAA has delayed the start of the season by more than a month in November. From now on, the boys and girls basketball teams are not expected to start their regular season until January 26, fencing will follow on January 27.
