The Atlanta Hawks lost Wednesday night’s game against the Orlando Magic. Jalen Johnson (ankle) and Justin Holiday (health and safety procedures) are both inactive. Also, midway through the first half, De’Andre Hunter left play after receiving a thigh strike during a defensive play.
Despite the absence of three key players, Atlanta made it through the first half, beating Orlando 70-50. But fortunately, John Collins sprained his ankle after completing a tackle at time-out in the second half.
The game never had a problem, as Atlanta was ahead for most of the game. But team depth took a big hit tonight.
Hawks coach Nate McMillan cleared the bench, but Aaron Holiday only played 1:21. Frank Kaminsky (6:39) is the only other player logged in under ten minutes. With space ahead, Jarrett Culver hit nearly 30 minutes. Trae Young and Dejounte Murray scored 30 and 27 points, respectively. However, Young’s outfield shots and Murray’s spins remained a problem.
Atlanta beat a rebuilding team tonight, and win is win. But the team’s problems remained the same. Friday night, the Denver Nuggets landed at State Farm Arena.
