The Connecticut Interschool Athletic Conference board on Thursday approved a plan for a modified high school winter sports season.
The plan includes a 12-game regular season for the following sports – basketball (boys and girls), ice hockey, swimming and boys gymnastics – but no post-season state tournaments as previously envisaged.
Instead, schools will be allowed to host regional post-season experiences (March 15-29), similar to what the Eastern Connecticut conference and the Coastal Conferences were held at the ‘autumn.
Teams can start pre-practice on Tuesday (January 19) and the regular season can start on Monday February 8.
The wrestling, indoor track and competitive cheering / dance will not take place this winter, although ACIC will be considering an indoor / outdoor track experience in March.
Athletes, coaches and officials must always wear masks, although swimmers can remove their mask before entering the pool and gymnastics can remove their mask before competing …
