LOS ANGELES (AP) – Jules Bernard had 20 points and nine rebounds, and first-place UCLA survived Washington’s last-place scare to win 81-76 on Saturday for their sixth straight victory.
The Bruins (11-2, 7-0 Pac-12) extended their home winning streak to 15 games. Jaime Jaquez Jr. added 15 points and Cody Riley had 14 points and eight rebounds.
This is the Bruins’ first 7-0 league start since 1993-94.
“Feel very lucky that we were able to achieve the victory,” said Riley. “It could easily have gone the other way.”
Washington (1-11, 0-7) was led by Quade Green with 25 points, one of his career record. Hameir Wright added 15 points and seven rebounds, a career high. The Huskies’ only victory this season was against Seattle on December 9.
Chasing their first victory at the Pauley Pavilion since 2016, the Huskies led by 12 points in the first half.
