COLUMBUS – The state of Ohio was not going to let Northwestern come back from behind.
Duane Washington Jr. scored a career-high 23 points to lead 21st Ohio State to an 81-71 victory over Northwestern on Wednesday night.
The Buckeyes (10-3, 4-3) avenged a one-point loss to the Wildcats on December 26.
Justin Ahrens added 12 points, hitting four 3-pointers, including a timely one late in the second half to help hold Buckeyes’ lead.
“We lost a tough game up there, and what we learned was that we had to play smarter and harder in the last four minutes of the game,” Ahrens said. “We did that tonight with a good result.”
