Surviving the pandemic remains a struggle for local small businesses

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW / WAGT) – It’s been almost a year since we first heard the phrases “stay home” and “social distancing” to “flatten the curve”.

Much has changed in the past year, including the future of many small businesses in our region.

Some people dream of success, while others get up every morning and achieve it.

“I love helping people,” Jayme Durand said.

Her dream came true when she opened her gym – Epic Ultimate Results in Augusta.

It has been 12 years since I have really made a dream come true.

“I started in my father’s basement,” she says.

But the dream grew from humble beginnings to an 11,500 square foot facility tucked away near the Doctors Hospital.

Customers have seen results and business has grown.
